Is your home feeling a little bare with Halloween decor taken down and a couple weeks left to go before Thanksgiving (marking the unofficial but very serious date you are now allowed to decorate for Christmas)? Add a little warmth with a subtle (or not) harvest theme! If you haven’t tossed your pumpkins out, keep them for the next few weeks and add some simple, fun elements that will get you in the mood for apple cider sipping!
I am a sucker for front door decor and table centerpieces of all kinds. A hay bale and corn stalk were my go-to front porch pumpkin pairings this year. And, to tell the truth, I decorate for harvest/Thanksgiving throughout the whole season and let my neighbors add the Halloween fun to the cul-de-sac. Lazy or ingenious? Proudly both!
Mums are a great front door pumpkin complement and props like candles and wheelbarrows add a little country home pizzazz. For centerpieces, the sky (or field rather) is the limit even during this more dormant time of year. My kitchen walls are cranberry red so I enjoy the excuse of the season to splash in some yellow and orange. Dried wheat, small pumpkins and indoor candles create a beautiful home-y glow. A favorite Pinterest find (that I need to try) is carving out the inside of a gourd to use as a centerpiece vase!
So, see ya next year, Halloween. And Christmas lights, Santas and sleighs…you can wait. It’s harvest time!
